EIT Health is one of the most important European initiatives for boosting innovation in the healthcare sector.
It relies on a unique network of leading companies, universities, research and development centres, institutes, and healthcare units to create an ecosystem that facilitates the emergence of new business ideas and approaches, the development of innovative services and products that improve the lives and health of Europe's citizens. EIT Health is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
The National Documentation Centre (EKT) is the EIT Health Hub in Greece. It addresses the research, educational, and business communities, providing networking and advisory services for participation in research and development programmes, as well as information and training services.
In 2022, the pioneering SymbIASIS programme, unique in the country, was launched, connecting startups with hospital clinics. Additionally, from January 2023, EKT has been supporting the participation of the educational and business communities in Cyprus in EIT Health programmes.
To date, the Greek EIT Health hub has supported over 75 startups in participating in competitions such as the EIT Health InnoStars Awards and the RIS Innovation Call, with 16 of them receiving funding and awards. Furthermore, more than 480 healthcare students have been selected to participate in summer schools and training programmes such as HelloAIRIS and Innovation Days (i-Days).
